Cashew nut is a dry indehiscent fruit because they do not split open even upon reaching maturity. They are important for human consumption and for wildlife too. Cashew tree is a native to Northern south America. It was then taken to Goa, India by the Portuguese between the years 1560 and 1565. It was then from here that it spread to Africa and south-east Asia.
